Are you teaching extended school year? Do you have to have materials prepped for someone else teaching your students ESY? I taught ESY for years and years. While I love the opportunity for my students to gain access to curriculum, routines, and maintain mastery/progress on their goals it can be A LOT of work to prep. I’m here to help you reduce your stress and prep in order to prepare you or your students with their ESY curriculum!
Reviewing basic skills for students participating in ESY will allow the them to retain their mastered skills and have a low stress intro into the summer curriculum. My students showed the most success in ESY when they were able to focus on their routines, maintain work stamina, and have opportunity for social skills. I created a thematic summer curriculum that focus’ on basic reading, writing, and math, and social skills.
Most of these activities are low prep or print and go so that you have less stress and can enjoy your summer as well! The bundle includes 5 weeks of lessons that focus on vocabulary, reading, reading comprehension, writing, math, and a fun social skills BINGO game. You can also purchase the weeks individually as well! Check out the bundle here!

Just because school is out for summer doesn’t mean the building operations are shut down. Having an opportunity for a classroom coffee cart or other class business for upper admin, counselors, secretaries, and staff participating in summer programs is a great way to teach vocational skills and get the kids up and moving.
I don’t know about your school, all of the staff working in the summer love a visit from my students and delicious coffee is just an added bonus! It is a great community builder, an opportunity to work on social and communication skills and learn a vocation. Check out my coffee cart business pack on TPT!
The best low prep way to get new content as well as working on basic skills or IEP goals to take data is BOOM Cards. I love using boom cards in independent centers OR working with a teacher or para to collect data. It is so easy and in a post covid world most students are super familiar with the platform! I have boom cards that align with my reading and math curriculum in my tpt store, but there are so many great boom cards out there! I love the environmental print boom cards from SPED Adulting and ALL the boom cards made to align with MADE For Me LITERACY. You cannot go wrong with this low prep (and low stress) way to work on a variety skills in the classroom.
